This is a part-time (30 scheduled weekly hours) position. Position ends one year after initial hire date.
Purpose
The Meyers Lab at The University of Texas at Austin is immediately seeking outstanding research associate candidates. This part-time position will require a combination of technical strengths, high-level communication, leadership, and organization skills.
Responsibilities
Staged Alert Systems
Lead a team of students in documenting and evaluating COVID staged alert systems.
Work with staged alert collaborators to guide research to design future staged alert systems.
Disseminate the results of this analysis through reports and presentations
Educational Leadership
Develop teaching materials for mathematical epidemiology of infectious diseases both for the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI)
Collaborate with the training team on epiENGAGE grant to identify gaps in skills and knowledge; develop and guide training modules and resources;
and disseminate resources for a wider audience.
Lead the scheduling of weekly lab meetings including finding speakers, identifying topics, and suggesting research articles.
Modeling Efforts
Submit weekly forecasts to the CDC’s COVID-19 Forecasting Hub.
Engage with our research team and the broader research and public health communities.
Collaborate with modeling teams on specific epiENGAGE projects.
Ad Hoc
Other lab needs as they arise
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have completed a PhD in a quantitative science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline.
The position will also require the ability to work quickly on time-sensitive analyses and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Multiple years of experience in designing, validating, and applying mathematical models of outbreak dynamics and control.
Experience collaborating with communities and public health professionals.

$100,000

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
