SQL Database Administrator
We are seeking an experienced SQL Administrator to join our client located in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This role will oversee and support their Student Information System applications and databases.
The ideal candidate will work closely with departments across our organization to assess needs, address technical issues, and lead system enhancements.
This position reports directly to the President and requires a strong understanding of SQL Server, database administration, and third-party software integrations.
This role is a direct hire opportunity and has a hybrid work model which requires 3-4 days onsite in the Bryn Mawr Area.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support the organization’s SIS applications and databases, ensuring optimal functionality and user satisfaction.
- Collaborate with end-user departments to understand needs, troubleshoot issues, and adjust to changing requirements.
- Manage third-party software integrations, ensuring seamless data exchange and system performance.
- Develop and conduct training for end-users on Student and Financial Information Systems and other key enterprise applications across academic and administrative functions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with departments and stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Work closely with IT colleagues to evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance organizational capabilities.
- Set up testing environments for major upgrades, enabling thorough testing prior to production deployment.
- Assist the IT team in enforcing Information Security policies and practices, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality and security for sensitive data.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing application support and SQL databases.
- Experience in higher education settings is highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server database administration.
- Familiarity with Ellucian’s PowerCampus, PowerCampus Self-Service, PowerFaids, and / or Canvas is highly beneficial.
- Solid understanding of database design, structure, maintenance, and business intelligence concepts.
- Basic knowledge of student information systems, web-based applications, and client / server software.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing IT strategies, policies, and procedures.
- An advanced degree or relevant certification is preferr
