We are a 202-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission that offers a wide range of medical services including 24 / 7 emergency care, cardiology, wound care, surgical services, cardiac catheterization, and imaging.

The hospital is the only Certified Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Labor and Delivery Unit in the area.

In addition, Dallas Regional is the only Trauma Center for 13 miles and was the first Accredited Geriatric Emergency Room in Dallas County.

The hospital is a recipient of Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Awards, 15 Healthgrades Five-Star ratings over the past three years, and Straight "A" Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group since 2018.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient / family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.

The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his / her patients in the Emergency Department.

He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and / or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child / adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.

Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred

  • valid Texas State Registered Nursing (RN) license, required
  • current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current, required
  • current ACLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
  • current PALS certificate and / or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain current
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire, preferred
  • previous supervisory experience, preferred
  • minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital ED setting, required

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below) :

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED : MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
  • EDAP certified facilities : completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
  • Non-OB facilities : NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Non-OB facilities : Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days upon hire
  • minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year ENPC, preferred
