About the position
As the Commercial Property Senior Claims Specialist, youll take a leading role in handling complex property claims, managing external Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), and collaborating with carriers on large claims.

What Youll Do
Direct Management of Complex Property Claims & Subrogation
Oversee commercial property claims impacting primary and excess policies, ensuring exceptional customer service and technical accuracy.
Lead claims investigations from the first notice of loss to final resolution, collaborating with insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to assess exposure for the insured and the company.
Draft and review coverage letters, set reserves, and offer recommendations on claim outcomes.
Identify subrogation opportunities and work with legal teams to recover from third parties.
Supervision of Claims Personnel & TPAs
Review claim files exceeding adjuster authority and provide guidance on complex cases.
Train and mentor claims representatives, helping them improve investigation and evaluation skills.
Monitor adjuster caseloads and ensure adequate reserves are maintained on claims.
Manage litigation and ensure compliance with best practices.
Compliance & Education
Ensure timely and professional compliance with all relevant guidelines and regulations.
Stay current on legal trends, insurance line updates, and policy changes that impact claims handling.
Identify areas of improvement to optimize claims practices and enhance customer service.
Vendor Oversight
Select and monitor defense counsel as needed, ensuring close collaboration throughout the claims process.
Oversee assignments to experts and external vendors to achieve effective claim resolutions.
Communication & Collaboration
Present high-severity claims or complex trends to senior management.
Partner with underwriting teams on risk analysis and account reviews.
Participate in claims committee meetings, conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary.
Catastrophe Claims Management
Lead the NIP catastrophe claim process, managing large-scale claims to ensure optimal outcomes.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience handling complex property claims.
Proven track record with claims involving greenhouses, nurseries, retail garden centers, hydroponic farms, and heavy equipment.
Experience with property claims related to municipal buildings and emergency equipment.
Home state adjuster license required; additional state licenses are a plus.
Proficiency with claims software such as MSB or Xactimate.
Relevant certifications, such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Competency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Willingness to travel as needed to the East and West coasts.
