ABOUT THE ROLE

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will be focused on finding ways to make our Repair & Overhaul supplier more cost competitive.

In addition, will work with other engineers and operators to create instructions for machinists (mills, lathes, grinders, CMMs).

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will work directly with machine operators and engineers to develop and prove programs, modify existing programs, create new programs, troubleshoot machining issues.

The selected candidate will be analyzing cost data and implement required actions in order to reduce costs and improve the overall bottom line of the aftermarket business.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to evaluating product requirements vs maintenance cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role will support :
  • Repair & Overhaul (R&O) factory engineering needs in manufacturing
  • CNC and manual mills, lathes, grinders, CMMs coding and programming
  • Robotic programming
  • Repair development effort, via in-house or supplier operations. Develop & implement project plans targeted to reduce overall cost of doing business for Honeywell
  • Identify opportunities to reduce R&O cost, turnaround time, and backlog through in-depth data analysis, opportunity identification and project implementation
  • Actively manage efforts to increase R&O value proposition regarding Honeywell's aftermarket operations
  • Drive closure of action plans to improve internal / external repair cost, turnaround time, and backlog performance and maturity levels
  • Value Engineering
  • Travel : up to 10% US and / or internationally may be required
  • This position is 100% Onsite
  • Reports to : Sr Engineering Manager

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.

S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

MUST HAVE

  • 2+ years of experience in engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Robotics Engineering
  • Experience in repair & overhaul
  • Read and understand CNC programs
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools
  • Review 3D CAD design blueprints
  • Experience with mechanical analysis and simulation tools
  • Determine sequence of operations in a program
  • Write programs and modify existing ones for increased efficiency
  • Familiarity with CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders)
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Possess a positive attitude and professional image with impeccable business ethics
  • A change agent with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Understand and establish priorities in a complex and demanding environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Technical proficiency in the use of Excel, Access and other Microsoft Office tools
