- Patient Care / Other DutiesParticipates as a team member in support of the total perioperative processOrganizes time, equipment, supplies and personnel to provide effective and efficient case managementSupervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy roomOrganizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff membersConsiders cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover timeAssists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availabilityAddresses patients to the endoscopy room observing policy and procedure, safety requirements, and patient needsIdentifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical teamReviews patients medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team membersProvides comfort and reassurance to patient Maintains patient’s privacy and dignityExplains procedures and care to the patientPrepares room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performedAssembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedureAssists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation, pre-procedure, during procedure, and post-procedureProvides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordinglyResponds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physicianAccurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directionDocuments patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and proceduresAccurately advises other responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status
QUALIFICATIONS
Required :
- High school graduate or GED certification
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse with active license in appropriate state
- Certification in CPR
- IV Conscious Sedation training
- Endoscopy experience
- Evidence of leadership qualities
- Strong Ethical and Moral References
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
Preferred :
- Certification in ACLS
- Ambulatory surgery center experience
- Computer literate
