Registered Nurse – Operating Room – Per diem

A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room at Cleveland Clinic Weston circulates a large variety of complex surgical cases in the 18-suite Operating Room Department, including but not limited to organ transplants, orthopedic, and neurosurgical cases, following established standards, department guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.

The opportunity to be trained as a scrub nurse is available. The RN will use their strong assessment and critical thinking skills to collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide the best outcomes for each patient.

This role plays an integral part in ensuring patient advocacy and safety.

The hours of this per diem position will include day and evening shifts, with overnight and weekend on-call requirements.

A minimum of 48 hours per six-week schedule is required.

Required qualifications for the ideal candidate include :

• A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR OF RN EXPERIENCE IN AN OPERATING ROOM IS REQUIRED.
• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
• Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Physical Requirements :

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and / or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment :

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
