Position Title : Academic Year Lecturer

College : Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management

Department / School : Electrical / Electronic and Computer Engineering

Salary Range : Lecturer A / 2 : $5,007 $6,359 per month; Lecturer B / 3 : $5,925 $12,594 per month; Lecturer C / 4 : $6,500 $13,831 per month;

Lecturer D / 5 : $8,184 $14,487 per month. Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

Priority Review Date : 06 / 17 / 2024; complete applications received after that date may be considered as needs arise.

Position Summary :

The Electrical / Electronic and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024-25 academic year.

Full-time work may be available depending on available workload and candidate background. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A Master of Science or higher degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or in a related area from an accredited university by the time of employment.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electrical / Electronic, or Computer Engineering or in a related field from an accredited university and three years of practice in a relevant field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In addition, successful candidates must have :

  • A strong commitment to teaching with a proven record of or the potential for developing innovative pedagogical approaches to courses, labs, and projects.
  • A willingness to participate as team member to assess student outcomes and to adapt to changes in the curriculum.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An awareness of the educational goals of a diverse and multicultural population.

Preferred Qualifications :

Candidates in all areas of Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering are encouraged to apply. Applicants with one or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, particularly in lower division courses and in laboratory and capstone courses that emphasize engineering design are also preferred.

Responsibilities :

Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching electrical and computer engineering undergraduate courses and laboratories.

The courses may include courses on digital logic, linear circuits, microprocessors, computer architecture, and / or introductory General Education courses open to all majors on campus.

The faculty should also be able to teach relevant upper division, core courses and / or mentor student projects. A successful faculty will support undergraduate students in their laboratory efforts through teaching relevant topics including laboratory safety protocols, managing the lab, and providing guidance in project construction, characterization, debugging, and documentation of results.

A successful faculty will also assess student performance, which may include their attainment of student learning outcomes.

Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department :

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers an ABET accredited bachelor of science degree in Computer Engineering, and an ABET accredited bachelor of science degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, a master of science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and minors in Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

The Department has approximately 170 undergraduate majors.
