In the sales department, the communication skills and dedication of the sales staff is important. These individuals by nature of their work are expected to take time, effort and a willingness to meet the customers needs and expectations.

To accomplish this, the minimum expectations are as follows :
Market shares as determined by product line
Gross margin generated as a percentage based on your sales targets
Gross margin generated in dollars
Amount of sales in dollars as stated in your sales goals
Products sold based on sales goals, targets, and market share
Awareness (Forklift sales only)
o Number of deals done
o Number of deals you were in
o Number of deals we closed
Product and application knowledge
Customer profiling accuracy
Job Outline :
Represent and promote Van Keppel operations, which ensures customer confidence and maximum profits for the company and the store.
Coordinate activities and cooperate with other departments to best serve the needs of the customer. Sell parts, service and supplies 100% of the time.
You are required to work in conjunction with all members of the Company and store locations and you are to perform the following duties as instructed :
1. Assure customer satisfaction
Know the customers expectations both today and the future
Utilize the Customer Awareness Program to improve the customers perception of Van Keppels people, products, and services
Adhere to the designated Rental / Sales Process including completion of all required documentation, etc.
Work together with the entire Van Keppel team to ensure all of our customers are satisfied
Accept responsibility as final source of non-equipment sales departments problems as they can affect total customer relations.
This includes within the store or Van Keppel as a whole
2. Sell the entire new and used product lines currently offered
3. Maintain accurate, current product, industry and selling skills knowledge on an on-going basis for all related equipment and Van Keppel procedures
Attend all sales meetings unless specifically excused
Receive, study, and file for easy reference all sales and product material
Attend all assigned or pertinent sales or product schools and help your teammates learn what you have experienced
4. Organize and manage your time and territory to ensure the highest possible return to Van Keppel and its customers
Report all competitive activity
Average 7 calls per day face to face as determined by your sales manager or store manager
Average 7 telephone calls per day as determined by your sales manager or store manager
Identify all new accounts and add them to the Customer Awareness Program for future action call, mail, telemarketing, etc.
Leads are followed up quickly (within 24 hours) and reported back to Sales Manager or Store Manager
Proper paperwork must be submitted at all times
5. Understand functional product / service and company knowledge
Be proactive to uncover signs and symptoms that indicate the prospect has problems we can solve with our product / service / company features
Develop and maintain a list of Features, Advantages, and Benefits for our customers and for each of the products and services sold as directed by your Manager
Daily update yourself on changes to manufacturers terms, discounts, and special programs, sales, deliveries, valuations, and new equipment arrival
Update yourself on Van Keppels used equipment through our website www.vankeppel.com
Complete proper paperwork for all trade in evaluations abide by booking procedure.
All trade-ins must be placed on the web page within 15 days or commission will be held until following month.
6. Obtain and retain knowledge of the competition and their products
Maintain a list of competitive activity and competitive products
Report all competitive sales
7. Communicate with all levels of Van Keppel Management to ensure that all service to our customers is taken care of and no profit opportunity is lost because of lack of communication
All communication with customers and co-workers is conducted respectfully, honestly, and professionally following the golden rule, which is, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Exceptional communication skills are necessary
Proactively seek customer and employee feedback, anticipate problems and respond promptly. Respond immediately to customer issues and concerns
Communicate with customers any warranties concerning equipment sold or rented. No warranty shall accompany a used equipment sale unless stated in writing and signed by Van Keppel Management
Provide the direction and leadership required to achieve professional profitability and customer service / satisfaction standards
8. Develop and maintain and understanding of the supply industry
Actively participate in industry specific trade organizations
Subscribe to and read supply sales and marketing magazines
Read at least one book on sales or marketing every quarter
Works closely with Sales Manager or Store Manager to understand and develop the links to other clients and industries
9. Maintain an active list of prospects and customers by territory utilizing the CAP.
10. Consistently display a commitment to doing things right the first time and pay attention to detail. Take a leadership role in demonstrating skills
11. Conduct pre-call planning activities
Plan and set the objective of the contact
Organize and review prospect information frequently
12. Contribute to the maintenance of high employee morale
13. Display flexibility and openness in daily work and encourage others to stay open to change, improvements, etc.
14. Attend required company meetings and participates in constructive discussion
15. Participate in community and industry involvement
16. Promote and represent Van Keppel and fellow employees in a positive and professional manner at all times. Maintain personal appearance in a professional and neat condition
17. Conduct yourself professionally on and off the job
18. Follow all policies and procedures as specified in Company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
19. Use and maintain Company facilities, equipment, and vehicles in a professional and safe manner. Keeping all properties neat and organized
20. All other duties as assigned by Management

1 year : Experience maintaining CRM software

2 years : Outside equipment sales experience including territory management
