Responsibilities

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed, private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults;

and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults. Our treatment philosophy is based on a team approach that treats patients with dignity and respect, while delivering high-quality care.

Position Summary

  • Responsible for being able to perform all aspects of Central Florida Behavioral Hospital’s intake and admission process, including efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources;
  • providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals; making outside referrals, when appropriate;
  • assessing and triaging an individual’s mental health status; making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the CFBH physician;

identifying insurance benefits, pre-certification of patient care; completing all admission requirements; communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff and documenting all necessary information in Med Series 4.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Requests clinical information on potential patients;
  • Initiates verification of insurance coverage to determine viability of insurance for individuals seeking admission;
  • Coordinates admissions with all necessary unit staff and Physician;
  • Follows EMTALA regulations and identifies high risk individuals presenting for emergency care

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Minimum One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse required. Six (6) months expereince in psychiatric nursing preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
  • Current CPR Certification required (Can be obtainted upon hire)
  • Knowledge of current nursing procedures
  • Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations : Week 1 : M-F 8 AM - 5 PM / Week 2 : M & Tu 9 AM - 5 PM
