What is the purpose?

The production supervisor at Saxco International is a crucial role responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our custom packaging center.

The supervisor will ensure that production processes run smoothy and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

This position requires a proactive and dedicated individual with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The Production Supervisor will work closely with various departments, including Sales, Customer Service, Quality Assurance, Warehouse and Transpiration, to meet the customer expectations and company objectives.

What are the job responsibilities?

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the CPC, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all production processes.
  • Plan, organize, and allocate resources (workforce, equipment, and materials) effectively to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Continuously monitor production performance and implement / recommend corrective actions, process improvement, and best practices to optimize output and minimize waste.
  • Train and supervise new and existing production team members, including line leads. Fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to maintain the highest standards of product quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate departments to address customer concerns, resolve production-related issues, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products.
  • Maintain accurate production records, generating reports and providing regular updates to Production Manager.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety protocols, adhering to regulatory requirement, and conducting regular safety audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in response to changing business needs.

  • Production Management Skills : Strong knowledge of production processes, workflow management, resource allocation, and lean manufacturing principles to optimize efficiency and output.
  • Independent Project Management Skills : Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently while ensuring that deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Communication Style : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and convey information with team members, cross-functional departments, and upper management.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions.
  • Technical Knowledge : Familiarity with industry-specific equipment, systems, and software, such as inventory management tools and Microsoft Office Suite, Dynamics AX preferred.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance : In-depth understanding of ISO and other quality standards, as well as knowledge of safety and environmental regulations relevant to the packaging industry.
  • Time Management and Adaptability : Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset : A strong commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, with the ability to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Certifications and Special Skills : While not required, any certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Project Management, or other relevant areas are a plus.

Additionally, experience with specific packaging materials, processes, or technologies relevant to Saxco International's core business sectors would be beneficial.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role with a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, workflow management, and lean manufacturing principles. Excellent leadership communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a strong sense or urgency and attention to detail. Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or holiday as needed to mee production schedules and customer demands.

Forklift experience preferred

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. includes occasional and repetitive lifting.
  • Sitting 10%, walking 20%, standing 70%.
  • Long periods of standing, twisting and bending.
  • Position involves computer work and use of other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to judge distances and heights.
  • Ability to work in varying seasonal temperatures.
