Department Information

The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States.

Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education. The graduate CS program is currently ranked 6th and the undergraduate 5th nationally by U.

S. News and World Report. The College consists of five Schools that provide specialized and general computing education to the entire campus.

With over 16-degree programs, including its world-renowned online MS in CS, we believe the College to be the largest Computing unit in the United States and, as such, one of the largest producers of computationalist at all levels and of all demographic backgrounds.

The College is a part of the Georgia Institute of Technology, a unit of the University System of Georgia and is primarily located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive human resources administrative support, liaison and guidance to a major academic support, extension or administrative unit within the Institute or an academic unit within a college.

Administers all human resources related functions within the unit including adherence to Institute human resources policies.

The position may require setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with : Institute Human Resources management and staff and unit management, faculty and staff employees.

This position typically will advise and counsel : unit management, faculty and staff employees. This position may supervise : unit human resources staff support personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Serve as primary contact for all human resources matters within the unit, consulting with management, faculty, staff, employees, prospective employees and outside organizations

Job Duty 2 -

Serve as liaison with the Institute Human Resources office, coordinating implementation of new or revised polices, processes, etc.

Job Duty 3 -

Coordinate employment / orientation process for unit

Job Duty 4 -

Coordinate and facilitate performance management issues within the unit; coordinate probationary reviews, annual performance evaluation process, and related matters

Job Duty 5 -

Monitor human resources related activity relative to compliance with federal, state and local regulations

Job Duty 6 -

Process all unit personnel transactions (hires, promotions, transfers and terminations)

Job Duty 7 -

Communicate human resource policies to unit employees

Job Duty 8 -

May plan and supervise activities of unit human resources staff personnel

Job Duty 9 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring of Research Faculty (RF) and Postdocs
  • Manage the administration of Active Service Modified Duties and Tenure on Hire appointments
  • Responsible for Leaves of Absence, Retention, Off-Cycle Raises, and Resignation requests
  • Manage Adjunct, Administrative, and Emeritus appointments
  • Review and approve Instructional Associate hires
  • Post job openings or placeholders for faculty appointments, compose offer letters, collect and process candidate data (including GT-TRACS faculty packages, foreign credential evaluations, if needed, and background checks
  • Request and / or approve transactions in OneUSG and via the Admin Services Center
  • Administer processes related to Annual Faculty Evaluations, RF Promotion, and Critical Review
  • Reply to and manage requests via the online ticketing system
  • Co-coordinate College New Employee Orientation in Fall and Spring
  • Ensure accurate faculty headcounts for reports such as RPT Tracking report
  • Collect data for special reports such as TAULBEE
  • Update open faculty positions on the website monthly
  • Release daily emails to group listservs
  • Maintain storeroom files for aforementioned hiring groups for 7 years, including records of departed or retired faculty
  • Interpret policies, offer guidance, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Five to seven years of job related experience

Certification though programs offered by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recruitment and Selection : Experience with faculty recruitment processes.
  • Onboarding : Skills in coordinating orientation programs and integrating new hires.
  • Data Management : Proficiency in handling faculty appointments, evaluations, and records.
  • Attention to Detail : Ability to manage complex documentation and ensure accuracy in all hiring-related paperwork and processes.
  • Effective Communication : Ability to clearly convey information to faculty, candidates, and other stakeholders through written and verbal communication.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Capacity to interact professionally with faculty members, candidates, and administrative staff

Proposed Salary

Pay Information :

Salary Range : $63,303 - $86,091

FLSA Status : Exempt

Schedule :

Monday - Friday; Hybrid

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires working knowledge of Institute human resources administrative policies and procedures as well as human resources related federal and state regulatory requirements.

Also required are interpersonal skills, especially as they relate to a diverse workforce, communications and problem solving skills.

Use of basic and HRMS computer applications are required.
