Staff Accountant II (199) Fresno, CA The Staff Accountant II plays a key role in supporting the organizations financial operations, providing advanced accounting expertise, and ensuring compliance with federal and state funding regulations.
This position involves a variety of tasks such as financial analysis, general ledger management, and assistance with audits.
The Staff Accountant II is expected to work independently and contribute to the training and development of other accounting staff.
How will I contribute Analyze the operational and financial structure of assigned programs and cost centers.
Stay informed of federal and state funding regulations that impact contracts and ensure compliance.
Assist with billing and accounts payable processing as needed for specific programs or cost centers.
Support the Director of Finance and CFO in gathering materials for financial audits and other reports.
Perform detailed general ledger analysis, account reconciliations, and prepare / post journal entries.
Review program revenues and expenses to ensure accuracy and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Post and apply payments to accounts receivable and maintain accounts receivable sub-ledgers, as assigned.
Collaborate with the Director of Finance and CFO to prepare and review management and fiscal reports.
Maintain accurate statistical data records for monthly revenue calculations for assigned programs and cost center, as needed.
Assist in the preparation and filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
Stay updated on accounting and Excel best practices and procedures.
Participate in preparing cost center and program budgets.
Conduct general ledger research and serve as back-up for accounts payable and accounting staff as needed.
Foster positive working relationships with internal staff and departments.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the department.
What I bring Bachelor Degree in Accounting / Finance Class C Driving License 3 years of experience in accounting or a directly related role.
Knowledge of various compliance and reporting systems.
Strong understanding of U.S.
GAAP accounting and financial statements analysis.
Fundamental knowledge of principles, theories and concepts of accounting for non-profit organizations.
Knowledge and understanding of behavioral health funding involving government funding provisions of contracts and grants High level of expertise with Excel and proficient with business software tools and databases.
High level of competency in managing large volume of data.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex accounting matters.
Ability to prepare complex financial and statistical reports.
Must have excellent work ethic; willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially during period close and reporting cycles.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment requiring minimal supervision.
Strong organization and communication skills interpersonal and written.
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics of GP preferred, bachelors degree in accounting is highly desired.
