The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00and $176,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire.

The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The department is seeking for a financial data experienced specialist who mainly focuses on for data governance and control over data attributes / elements that are used for SMBC finance area, including US Regulatory Reporting, to make sure that the regulatory reports to various regulatory agencies are prepared timely, accuracy and complete, and ensure quality of data used for finance area.

This function, reports to the head of Regulatory Reporting Data Control department, focusing on initiatives to build the various data governance activities.

This requisition especially focusing on to establish, maintain, and enhance the data accountability and attestation process which the framework was established under regulatory reporting transformation projects.

This function requires to communicate and coordinate with various internal business functions and identify data owner and associated business process control and applicable transactional detail dataset.

Continuously improve stronger regulatory reporting data governance, including continuous follow ups with stakeholders, evaluate the data attestation outcome, and improve the higher data quality.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate data accountability and data ownership attestation performed by various stakeholders.
  • Establish, and maintain data governance and data quality controls in finance area, including US regulatory reporting.
  • Identify risks, associated data controls, drive control operationalization and evaluate the control results.
  • Work across teams to translate regulatory requirements into implementable data controls.
  • Sustain an established regulatory reporting data attestation framework.
  • Ensuredata quality, governance, and control for various financial regulatory reports according to company policy and standards.
  • Assist building data-lineage, data quality effectiveness, data reconciliation and various data quality controls.
  • Facilitate project update communications and meetings. Providing senior leadership with actionable information regarding status of individual deliverables, work streams, and the overall program.
  • Develop templates, guides, and other accelerators to enable the team members to execute activities in a repeatable manner.
  • Perform required documentation including the policy, standards, and procedures, data attestation and results of data scoring, control assessment approach, and others.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7-12 years on data quality, governance, and control of financial regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in communicating with technical and business teams regarding periodic compliance on data controls. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on complex and cross functional projects and data initiatives.
  • With proficient IT skills including but not limited to various Microsoft applications (i.e. Power Apps), Alteryx, Power BI or SQL, is a plus.
  • Familiar with major regulatory reports including, but not limited to FRY-9C, FFIEC 009, FRY-15, FR2052a, FFIEC 002 and FFIEC 019 and other US regulatory reports is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and assess data attributes according to various regulatory agencies' guidelines and instructions.
  • Demonstrate ability to challenge the status-quo and drive results
  • Knowledge of, or exposure to various financial products, i.e., Loans, Deposits, Derivatives, Securities. Repos, etc.
  • Team-worker with ability to work independently.
  • Experience with external or internal audit is a plus.
