A Systems Engineer position in Denver, CO is currently available at Belcan. This is a full-time direct hire position with benefits.
To be considered for this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in systems engineering with exposure to any of the following disciplines;
system architecture, design, integration, verification and validation, technical program management, cross-functional leadership, technical issue resolution, or product management

Successful Systems Engineers typically have a foundation in systems design and have experience in most phases of the product development life cycle.

The nature of our systems engineering work and assignments vary depending on the specific customer engagements; our immediate needs are in the areas of requirements management, system / functional architecture, verification, qualification and certification support, and cross-functional leadership in industries such as aviation, commercial space, and medical product development.
Job Duties :
Contribute and add value to client projects in the areas of requirements analysis, definition, decomposition, traceability, and management;
system architecture and design; system integration, system verification and validation; technical program management, cross-functional leadership, technical issue resolution, or product management.
o Develop Concept of Operations
o Define high-level / mission requirements.
o Define & evaluate system architectures.
o Decompose requirements and derive requirements.
o Define & control interfaces.
o Establish and maintain traceability.
o Perform Verification planning and develop V&V plans, procedures, and reports.
o Perform trade studies.
o Measure technical performance.
o Perform hardware / software integration & test.
- Use systems engineering principles (including models-based methods) to develop an approach tailored to the need, the system, the customer, and the development organization.
- Develop and nurture long-term customer relationships.
- Recognize client needs that may lead to additional opportunities
- Keep abreast of current and new technologies and tools related to your field (e.g. Agile development methods, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), etc.)
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor"s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related scientific degree
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience, including :
o System requirements (definition, decomposition, traceability, & management)
o System verification & validation (planning, execution, artifact development)
Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this role.
Specific Qualifications :
- Development and optimization of Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) systems and In-Space motion control systems
- Development and ownership of Pointing error budget, stability margin, jitter, and accuracy requirements
- Development of Functional Block Diagrams
- Component selection / definition for beam steering, actuators, and position sensors
- Implementation and testing of sophisticated control algorithms.
- Definition of States and Modes and State Transitions
- Performance of component and subsystem-level performance validation tests
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. aerospace, defense, medical device)
- Experience with engineering standards such as DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754
- Avionics experience
- Knowledge of hardware, software, or system certification processes
- Experience in systems engineering sub-system specialties such as System Safety and Reliability
- Experience with Agile development methods
- Experience using typical Systems Engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, JAMA, CAMEO, etc.)
- Understanding of Risk & Opportunity Management, Configuration Control & Management, etc.
- Aptitude to work collaboratively and drive consensus and alignment within and across organizational boundaries.
- Ability to influence key decision-makers and highly technical resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Master's Degree in engineering, the Sciences, or Business Administration

401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and paid leave required by law. Salary guidelines for similar roles at Belcan are $140,000 to $165,000.
