Senior Security Engineer
Overview
Foley & Lardner LLP is currently seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our team! The right candidate will be responsible for the advanced development, monitoring, implementation, maintenance, and support of the firm's Information Security infrastructure and processes.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical and security leadership to internal stakeholders as key member of the Information Security Engineering and Operations team.
- Serves as the primary individual responsible for managing and operating Palo Alto Firewalls, Global Protect portals, network security tools, and troubleshooting of firewall-related security issues (policies, configurations, maintenance of IPSEC tunnels, etc.)
- Operates and configures full security technology stack, e.g., EDR, multi-factor authentication, DNS, Active Directory, Data Loss Prevention, SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Security Orchestration and Automation, etc.
- Ensures proper maintenance, patching, configuration, and updating of security tools and technologies.
- Provides advanced level security assistance and troubleshooting for network security systems and services issues as needed or directed.
Follows up and rectifies any failures or problems. Evaluates and makes recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
- Proactively monitors security systems and services and actively pursues prompt resolution to system alerts and incidents
- Participates in security investigations and analysis of logs, events, incidents, as required.
- Experience with common scripting languages (PowerShell, python, KQL, SPL, etc.)
- Collaborates with Technology and Security Architecture to design, configure, implement, and operate security solutions to manage enterprise risk.
- Acts as a conduit and liaison for externally managed security services
- Active involvement in the Vulnerability Management program
- Participates in risk management and compliance / audit activities
- Assists and support the Technology Assistance Center in resolving advanced level end-user issues
- Participates in on-call rotations, requiring evaluation, escalation, and resolution of high-priority security events, incidents, and alerts.
- Works in concert with management to recommend, evaluate and implement new security solutions and processes as part of stand-alone and broader projects / initiatives.
- Acts as the Information Security Lead on various projects and research tasks
- Manages multiple, parallel projects using formal project planning techniques
- Coordinates and communicates system downtime per Change Advisory Board (CAB) policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Security preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Information Technology field with exposure in a network security support role.
- Advanced Experience in several of the following technologies : Palo Alto Firewalls, Tenable Security Center, MFA, Cisco Umbrella, VPN, EDR, Email Security, DLP, UEBA, SOAR, NAC, SIEM, CASB, Public Cloud Security
- Security Industry certification(s) and / or specialized experience in cybersecurity / information security preferred. (CISSP, OSCP, CEH, GIAC, Azure, etc.)

These figures represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be determined based on the following factors : education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley.
