Job Description :
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for leading electrical and instrumentation (E&I) engineering tasks across various industrial projects.
This role will ensure project deliverables meet quality standards while providing technical guidance to team members. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with other disciplines and departments to deliver efficient, high-quality engineering solutions.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Adhere to and utilize department design and drafting standards.
- Review project scope, specifications, and design criteria at the onset of assignments.
- Recognize and promptly communicate any scope or design changes.
- Provide on-site assistance during project startup.
- Offer technical guidance to less experienced engineering and drafting staff.
- Serve as discipline lead on small to mid-sized projects, coordinating team activities and ensuring project milestones are met.
- Develop and review preliminary and detailed designs, material take-offs, and cost estimates.
- Create specifications and design calculations for materials, including 15kV / 5kV equipment specifications.
- Develop installation specifications and conceptual layouts.
- Produce various engineering documents such as motor control center single lines, connection diagrams, grounding and lighting plans, and cable schedules.
- Check calculations made by others to ensure accuracy and adherence to codes and design criteria.
- Assist the drafting team with layout and detailing, providing necessary sketches and details.
- Collaborate with leaders from other disciplines to maintain project flow and timelines.
- Lead the development of electrical / instrumentation packages, including scopes, drawings, and specifications for procurement.
- Review vendor and fabrication drawings, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.
- Conduct fieldwork to gather data and support construction needs.
- Apply advanced engineering techniques and methodologies to complex designs.
- Estimate professional service hours and assess project progress and quality.
- Identify and manage interoffice work-sharing packages for execution support.
- Lead and motivate a small team to deliver within project scope, budget, and schedule.
Education and Experience :
- Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registration : Professional Engineer (PE) licensure highly preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Expertise in lighting level, voltage drop, wire, and conduit sizing calculations.
- Proficiency in producing installation documents and developing equipment specifications (e.g., motor control centers, switchgear, and load center unit substations).
- Ability to produce 15kV power system single-line diagrams and perform related calculations.
- Understanding of construction material specifications, installation techniques, and schedule constraints.
- Knowledge of instrumentation standards (ISA) and the ability to specify process instrumentation.
- Ability to create P&IDs, control narratives, and control valve sizing.
- Competency with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in virtual team collaboration and interoffice leadership.
