We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Structured Autism Teacher to join our team. As a Structured Autism Teacher, you will play a crucial role in the education and development of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
You will create and implement individualized educational plans tailored to each student's unique needs, collaborating closely with parents, therapists, and other educators to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism spectrum disorder.
- Use evidence-based interventions and strategies to support the academic, social, and behavioral development of students.
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and parents to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including math, language arts, science, and social studies.
- Utilize visual supports, structured routines, and behavior management strategies to promote independence and self-regulation.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional techniques accordingly.
- Provide training and support to paraprofessionals and other support staff working with students with autism.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, or a related field.
- Professional certification in special education.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder.
- Deep understanding of autism spectrum disorder and evidence-based interventions.
- Knowledge of assistive technology resources and their integration into the classroom.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
- Ability to create and implement individualized educational plans based on student assessments and data.
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Ability to maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students with autism spectrum disorder.
