About Academy of Visual and Performing Arts
Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a 6-12th grade, tuition-free public charter school for students in Fort Worth, Texas.
Our mission is to provide a safe, challenging learning environment that cultivates our students’ academic and artistic excellence.

Start Date : This is a pool position. The start date is dependent on when a vacancy opens up. However, we still encourage you to apply as we will interview you and keep your candidacy on hold until an opening becomes available.
Type : Full-time position. Work hours are generally 6 : 30 am - 2 : 30 pm. Flexibility in work schedule is expected due to the nature of working in a start-up environment.
Candidates should have flexibility to travel, work on weekends, and from home, as needed. Schedule will be adjusted to accommodate after hours assignments, as needed.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Executive Chef / Cafeteria Manager serves as a key member of the School Leadership Team, ensuring that the campus meets high standards of organizational, operational, customer service excellence, enabling instructional leaders and staff to focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes.
As an Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Office Manager, your core responsibilities, at a minimum, include :
School Operations Leadership
- Manage all phases of cafeteria management, including but not limited to ...
- Monitoring day-to-day operations
- Food production records
- Ordering appropriate quantities of food and supplies
- Equipment maintenance and reports
- End-of-day procedures (bank deposits)
- Supervising staff, and managing vendor relationships
- Plan and prepare daily breakfast and lunch meals for up to 1120 student.
- Supervise and provide detailed work schedules for up to 5 staff members.
- Supervises every aspect of food preparation, service, storage, ordering, portion control, clean up and related activities to ensure that the food is high-quality, high-nutritional value and prepared in a safe and sanitary environment, according to health and safety codes and regulations, policies, procedures, and other requirements.
- Administer the food service budget to ensure that appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available through daily orders and periodic inventories.
Assist with development of a cost-effective and efficient system of procurement of all food meeting federal procurement and TEA standards.
Develop menus that meet established nutritional requirements for students and supports the AVPA vision for physical wellbeing.
Work cooperatively with administrators to create lunch schedules and resolve any issues related to student nutrition and food service.
- Supervises money handling during the serving period. Lead person in end of day procedures including counting money each day, signing bank worksheet and deposit slips.
- Maintain logs and physical equipment and supplies inventory for the food service department. Perform preventive maintenance and report needed equipment repairs, as needed.
- Establish and direct the process for providing free and reduced lunch application through the National School Lunch Program, following the requirements and guidelines for meal eligibility and reimbursement of federal funds.
- Comply with federal and state law, TEA / SBOE rules, and board policy related to student nutrition service and food safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Additionally, for this position, we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills :
- High School Diploma or GED (required); Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum two years experience in school food service operations with one year in management
- 3-5 years minimum work experience as an office manager, preferably in education and / or business
- Strong project and time management skills; ability to effectively backward plan, juggle multiple priorities with great attention to, detail, and deliver consistent and timely results
- Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of operational excellence
- Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Successful criminal background check required
- ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain)

What We Offer
Academy of Visual and Performing Arts’ compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across our institution.
The salary for this role is $35,000-$40,000 annually. AVPA is committed to internal pay equity throughout our organization.
Because of this, we do not negotiate salary offers outside our salary bands. We offer a competitive benefits package with comprehensive health benefits.
