Seiden Law LLP, a fast-growing litigation boutique in Manhattan, is seeking a litigation paralegal to work with a team of seasoned lawyers on complex litigation and arbitration matters as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individuals who desires to work on challenging cases while having significant responsibility and front-line exposure.

Seiden Law paralegals are responsible for important aspects of large-scale and complex matters, including managing document collection and production, assisting with deposition exhibits and court filings, organizing electronic and hard copy client documents, managing litigation support software and vendors, and trial preparation and attendance.

Our paralegals are expected to prioritize and manage multiple cases / projects, and have a team orientation with a collaborative focus.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ready to start work in 1-2 weeks
  • Must have 5-8 years of experience working as a paralegal in civil litigation offices
  • Prefer prior "big law" experience
  • A successful candidate would have already worked in a fast-paced defense firm focused on civil litigation matters
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Energetic, responsive team player with the interest to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively within a team.
  • Ability to navigate various electronic databases and document repositories
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite and document editing software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro

Responsibilities :

  • Navigate online research databases and internet resources (PACER, Westlaw and equivalents)
  • Track workflow process, maintain calendar deadlines proficiently, and manage case progress across the firm
  • Manage production of hard copy and electronic documents, including collecting documents and data from clients, processing documents from opposing and third parties, maintaining chain of custody, handling logistics of document productions, designing and implementing document review procedures..
  • Maintain case files, including storing and organizing hard copy and electronic documents, overseeing document management systems, implementing privacy and confidentiality protocols.
  • Prepare briefs and other legal documents for filing, including cite checking, proofreading, compiling exhibits and appendices, formatting documents according to local rules, filing documents, serving legal documents on opposing parties, arranging for service of process.
  • Perform substantive factual research, including analysis of documents, summaries of information, conducting interviews.
  • Research and act upon court rules and procedures
  • Assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and request for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders) and motions (preparation of any supporting documents and exhibits, and preparing hearing binders)
  • Manage trial preparation including : coordination of witnesses and travel, trial exhibits, charts, trial notebook, subpoenas, and page lines
  • Prepare for trials, including compiling and tracking trial exhibits, preparing documents and evidence for courtroom use, setting up trial offices, managing trial vendors, interacting with courtroom staff and opposing party paralegals.
  • Oversee junior paralegal workflow and train paralegals and law interns in their responsibilities
  • Perform administrative tasks as required and any other functions / duties as assigned by management.
