We are seeking an experienced Principal Investigator Archaeologist to lead archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states. This position offers the opportunity to manage small to medium-sized projects, co-manage large projects, and serve as a field lead for Phase I-III archaeological investigations. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing our cultural resources team while conducting research, analyzing artifacts, and contributing to high-quality archaeological reports.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and conduct archaeological fieldwork, identifying artifacts and determining the presence of archaeological sites
- Collect and analyze data and field samples from historic and prehistoric sites
- Document methodologies, findings, and research in reports and archaeological site forms
- Review and write portions of archaeological reports under the guidance of the Senior Archaeologist or Section Head
- Assist in decision-making for project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects on archaeological resources
- Collaborate with field, lab, and office staff to ensure projects meet company and professional standards
- Support business development by assisting with proposals, budgets, and marketing materials as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Master's degree in anthropology or a closely related field from an accredited institutionMust meet the Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards for ArchaeologistsMinimum of 5 years of archaeological experience, with at least 3 years in leadership rolesFamiliarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of TexasAbility to obtain a Texas Antiquities PermitRegional experience in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana in historic and / or prehistoric archaeologyDemonstrated supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldworkExperience with Federal Agencies and Tribal NationsStrong written and oral communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelValid driver's license and willingness to travel as neededMust provide a writing sample from a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological reportProvide at least three professional references with contact informationPreferred Skills :
Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registeredExperience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGISPro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap, or other GIS toolsSignificant lab and curation experienceWhy Join Us :
