Job Description

Nurse Assistant

Job Title : Nurse Assistant Reports To : Building Principal Classification : Paraprofessional (Clerical / Teacher Assistant) Wage / Hour Status : Non-exempt Days : 195 Salary : See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional / Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 203 Contract : None Date Revised : 11 / 15 / 2023 Primary Purpose : Responsible for routine duties related to the operation of the school clinic.

Qualifications / Skills : Education / Certification :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Special Knowledge / Skills :

• Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use personal computer and software.
• Ability to work effectively with people.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities : Nurse Support :

• Administer basic first aid and care to ill and injured students according to district policy.
• Refer specific student health problems and concerns, including consultation for the ill or injured student, to the assigned school nurse.
• Perform health screenings according to district and state guidelines.
• Assist the assigned school nurse in preparations for health teaching activities.

Clerical Support :

• Assist in enforcing immunization statutes and prepare cumulative health records for new students.
• Maintain clinic inventory and ensure a healthful clinic environment.
• Update and maintain medical records for students at regular and / or required intervals.
• Process health information via computer system.

Other :

• Serve as liaison between school, home and community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory

Responsibilities : None Equipment Used : Computer and various office equipment. Working Conditions : Mental Demands :

• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work with frequent interruptions.
• This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands :

• Repetitive hand motions.
• Prolonged use of the computer.
• Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
• Moving small boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
