Position Overview :
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a key member of the project development / execution team and responsible for hands-on engineering expertise in the development of a variety of electromechanical assemblies for our government customers.
The ideal candidate can oversee a project and project schedule while working hands-on together with the R&D team on prototype builds, testing, and analysis.
Extensive experience with SolidWorks modeling, assemblies, BOM creation & administration, 2D drawings GD&T, component selection, and manufacturing principles is required.
The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being creative, proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment.
Key Job Duties :
- Serve as project manager for complete projects
- Review and follow Mil-Std requirements in the design process
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies with around 100-500 parts in SolidWorks and work closely with electrical and chemical engineers.
- Maintain organized SolidWorks part and assembly files, experience with PDM preferred
- Create 2D drawings, design for manufacturing
- Maintain an up-to-date BOM for assemblies
- Lead prototype builds and work hands-on with the team
- Work directly with vendors and with the purchasing department to procure prototype components
Requirements :
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design (graduate experience will be counted) preferred
- Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering or similar degree preferred
- Software : Expert level in SolidWorks
- Strong work ethics and work well with interdisciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of delivering on time and on budget
- Strong attention to detail
- Adaptable and agile, responsive to quick changes in direction
- Previous work experience with military products and / or DOD is a plus
- ISO 9001 or AS9100 experience
- Position is onsite.
