Automation Control Engineer

W3Global seeks an experienced Automation Control Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain PLC / DCS-based control systems for plant machinery and assembly lines. The role focuses on troubleshooting industrial equipment, upgrading outdated electronics, and optimizing operator effectiveness through robust GUI / HMI displays.

Position Summary

Design, assemble, and maintain control systems and electrical enclosures for manufacturing projects. Troubleshoot equipment and program issues, develop maintenance programs, and produce electrical schematics using CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent).

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot industrial equipment and control programs.
  • Design and assemble electrical enclosures ("panels" or "cabinets") to meet operational and automation goals.
  • Assist in determining equipment design specifications for production lines.
  • Create and update full electrical schematics (CAD based : SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent).
  • Develop and perform an electronics / controls maintenance & upgrade program, including planned life cycles.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Design and assemble industrial electronic components (circuitry, PLCs, drives, motors, network devices, HMIs).
  • Understand electrical / mechanical drawings and device manuals.
  • Apply advanced control theory (PID, LQR, state-space methods).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus RTU / TCP, Ethernet / IP, Profinet, OPC UA, MQTT).
  • Structured text, C#, RESTful APIs, SQL preferred.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, SolidWorks Electrical, LTSpice, 5S, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years as an Electrical / Automation Engineer (preferred).
