Job Description Summary : We are seeking a talented Lead Principal Engineer to join our AI / ML Platform and Solutions organization.

In this role, you will design and lead projects end-to-end, architecting innovative and cloud-agnostic data solutions. You will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams from both Business and Technology domains to meet complex business demands.

Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and creative problem-solving abilities are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additionally, you will lead and mentor team members, fostering their growth and development.

Your day-to-day :

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines and architectures to support data collection, transformation, and integration from various sources.
• Utilize advanced SQL and programming skills to query, manipulate, and manage large datasets effectively.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain Machine Learning models and build AI Products in production environments.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Lead and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills by clearly articulating complex technical concepts.
• Facilitate seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams to align project goals.

What do you need to bring :

• Solid track record of over-achieving engineering and platform delivery targets.
• Masters / bachelor’s in computer science, Computer engineering, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
• Strong proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
• Expert in multiple Programming / scripting languages, i.e. Unix / Linux Shell Scripting, Python, Java, Scala.
• Expertise in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Kafka.
• Proficiency in SQL, ETL, database design.
• Good understanding of NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in machine learning libraries / frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
• Expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and mentor team members.

PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $107300 to $259600.

For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
