Our Client a leading manufacturer of electronic connectors and cable assemblies for a wide variety of applications has an immediate need for an experienced Mechanical design engineer to be responsible for Development, design, testing and coordination of implementation into manufacturing of new hi-reliability electronic connectors and cable assemblies for Military, Commercial Aerospace, space and Medical industries Duties will include the design, testing and coordination into production of electronic connectors and cable assemblies from inception to completion by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Work with customers on the development of specifications for new connector and or cable assembly systems.
- Develop and design connector systems based on customer specifications including, production specifications, test data using standard engineering practices.
- Details drawings and coordinates building of prototype product and testing.
- Uses 3D CAD engineering and design software.
- Responsible for ensuring the final design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Responsible for ensuring that designs and projects are complete on time and at a reasonable cost.
- Develops manufacturing process to produce newly designed parts.
- Designs and details tools for making components or for assembly.
- Resolves problems related to assigned projects by working with vendor, customers, shop personnel and others as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through,
- Five to seven years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the design of small electromechanical components, experience in the design of electronic connectors preferred.
- Experience with military specifications, would be a plus but not necessary.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
