A Day in the Life

• Start with needs analysis—evaluate equipment conditions and determine purchasing specifications for electrical components.
• Install, remove, repair, and perform periodic maintenance on plant electrical systems, including lighting, motors, and heating equipment systems.
• Diagnose and repair circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and test instruments.
• Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using an ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or growler.
• Install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
• Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures according to diagram specifications, then complete circuits and verify performance.
• Monitor installed equipment for hazards and needed adjustments or replacement.
• Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits to ensure proper operation.
• Verify completed work meets local building and safety codes, and uphold safety procedures at every step.
