Job Details

Leadership & Management :

Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with hospital policies.

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Medical / Surgical unit, ensuring efficient patient flow and resource utilization.

Develop and implement unit-specific policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and staff satisfaction.

Clinical Oversight :

Monitor patient care delivery to ensure adherence to best practices and evidence-based care.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.

Address clinical issues and concerns promptly, providing guidance and support to nursing staff.

Ensure accurate documentation of patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.

Staff Development & Education :

Recruit, hire, and retain qualified nursing staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities for staff.

Organize and participate in staff education programs to maintain clinical competencies and promote continuous learning.

Mentor and support staff in their professional development and career progression.

Quality & Compliance :

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including Joint Commission requirements.

Monitor and evaluate quality indicators, implementing corrective actions as needed to improve patient care and safety.

Lead unit-based quality improvement projects, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Financial Management :

Develop and manage the units budget, monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement without compromising patient care quality.

Collaborate with hospital administration to align unit operations with organizational goals and financial objectives.

Qualifications :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role in a Medical / Surgical unit.

Proven experience in managing staff, budgets, and quality improvement initiatives.

Current RN license in the state of Massachusetts.

BLS certification required.

Certification in Nursing Administration (e.g., CNML, NE-BC) preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage complex clinical situations and make sound decisions under pressure.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and other healthcare technology.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
