Job Title : VP Mortgage Operations

Position Location : Raleigh, NC. Must live locally.

Your impact :

As Coastal's VP of Mortgage Operations you will lead our mortgage origination, underwriting, and administration; improve operational efficiencies;

build highly competent mortgage teams; and ensure compliance. As a highly visible leader, you model Coastal's culture as you work collaboratively between divisions to carry out our strategic vision.

As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be :

• Architecting and implementing strategies to enhance underwriting, closing, and post-closing processes, ensuring alignment with organization goals. (20%)
• Spearheading and managing post-closing quality control processes to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal standards, while overseeing the closing process to guarantee accurate and efficient loan closings with a strong focus on enhancing the borrower experience.

Implementing corrective action plans for any discrepancies identified during post-closing reviews to minimize risk exposure. (20%)

• Developing and implementing underwriting policies and procedures that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring sound credit risk assessment and decision-making. (20%)
• Owning the lending origination systems and vendors and overseeing the deployment and enhancements of technology solutions to support operational efficiency and drive innovation with the mortgage process. (20%)
• Reporting on loan origination performance, underwriting quality, closing efficiency, and secondary market results for executive management.

Analyzing data to provide feedback and coaching to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in loan approvals while looking for opportunities to improve operational efficiency. (10%)

Coordinating closely with attorneys, title companies, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth closing processes and resolve any issues that may arise. (10%)

Interested? Here are the qualifications we need to see on your resume :

Experience :

• Minimum of ten years of mortgage lending experience including managing mortgage products for the secondary market and at least six years of underwriting, processing, and closing experience.
• Experience with residential mortgage regulations, underwriting practices, secondary market operations, and best practices for loan origination workflows and processes.
• Experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac products, services, and guidelines
• Minimum of five years management experience including hiring, leading, and coaching staff.

Education :

Related bachelor's degree preferred
