Job Overview :
The Lead CNC Machinist will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for supervising CNC machinists, ordering tooling, and ensuring efficient operation of CNC machines.
This role involves preparing and operating CNC machines, managing raw materials, and ensuring products meet precise specifications.

Responsibilities :
- Supervise CNC machinists, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Order and manage tooling to maintain efficient production processes.
- Program CNC software and manage production from the machine, ensuring outputs meet specifications.
- Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc., and utilize manual tools as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, work orders, and plans to understand task specifications.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines, and conduct test runs to ensure machine outputs align with specifications.
- Set machines to complete full cycles for large part fabrication and supervise the tasks, making necessary adjustments for better results.
- Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality and collaborate with the Operations Manager to enhance production processes.
Qualifications & Skills :
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in machining is preferred.
- Proven experience operating CNC machines and manual equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading drawings, work orders, and specifications.
- Familiarity with programming CNC software and G-code programming language.
- Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, and manipulate heavy materials.
- Computer savvy with a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD / CAM.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machine operation and setup, with proficiency in program editing and inspecting parts with precision tools.
- Ability to manage and direct a team effectively.
Physical Requirements :
- Must possess physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and / or pull 50-pound loads.
- Ability to stand and walk up to eight hours per day.
