This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Engineering Manager for our Austin, TX office . Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Our Austin office is seeking an experienced rail systems engineering manager to provide project and overall program management leadership, oversight of Systems implementation efforts related to both light rail and commuter rail transit systems design.
Candidate should be familiar with all phases of project execution including design, procurement, construction, and testing and commissioning.
Candidate must have experience with rail systems design and construction management, and be capable of making decisions on significant engineering problems and issues.
Candidate should be familiar with multi disciplinary interface management and be familiar with integrated testing planning.
This candidate should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable of leading project teams and staff. Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting to WSP and Client Executive Leadership.
Your Impact
- Lead project teams and manage staff
- Manage and provide oversight of rail systems design and construction
- Perform design reviews and quality reviews of all rail systems related deliverables and documentation
- Provide oversight of Rail Activation and Integrated Testing and Commissioning
- Participate in marketing and business development efforts
- This position may support a wide variety of projects, including those for states, transit agencies, and other agency and railroads throughout the Central and Western United States.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies
- Update WSP and Client Executive Leadership via written and verbal communication
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 12+ years of railroad and / or transit industry systems engineering experience
- Minimum 10 years of management experience
- Field experience is a plus
- Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience
- Proficiency with CADD software, MS Office software
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional registration or ability to get license within a 6 month period preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera scheduling software
