FRAMINGHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS - Follow us on LinkedIn POSITION SUMMARY : The Expanded Learning Time (ELT) Group Leader is responsible for the delivery of engaging and academically enriching activities for Framingham Public Schools students in grades K-5. ELT Group Leaders are expected to help plan and execute high-quality project-based learning activities during before and after-school programming, and also support the healthy social and emotional development of all students. The ideal candidate is creative, flexible, culturally nimble, and deeply passionate about the power of out-of-school time programs to advance student learning and development. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS : Not Applicable TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE : Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of education. Also, we are interested in candidates who will bring to their professional practice the perspective that comes from a non-traditional educational background or an understanding of the experiences of those underrepresented in the educational field. A high school diploma is required; additional post-secondary education credits in a related field are preferred. A minimum of one year of experience as an educator in a school or community-based setting is required. Basic knowledge of effective youth development and OST principles, practices, and trends is required. Experience working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds is required. Experience with curriculum design and lesson planning is preferred. Fluency in Spanish and / or Portuguese is strongly preferred SKILLS AND ABILITY : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In collaboration with the ELT coordinator, create and facilitate a high-quality, academically enriching curriculum Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure appropriate supervision of all students at all times. Respond to and document emergency situations, injuries, and incidents appropriately and in alignment with EEC and / or district regulations. Inspire students to set and achieve ambitious academic and personal goals. Communicate with families, colleagues, and school staff to support student growth and hold students to consistently high expectations. Serve as a role model for students by exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism under FPS core values. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students, ensuring full inclusion of students with special needs and multilingual learners. Attend and support family engagement activities and other special events as needed. Attend monthly meetings and other required professional development. Perform other reasonable duties as requested by the Coordinator. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to move about and may need to traverse the school building occasionally; often must remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods; occasionally need to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Expected to lift at least 20 lbs (e.g., books, supplies); frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and grasp tools with hand strength. Must be capable of assisting students with physical difficulties. Operate a computer and other office equipment (e.g., calculator, copy machine, printer). Must be able to input data into a computer and read material from screens, handwritten, or printed sources, with or without visual aids. Able to communicate effectively in person, via email, and on the phone with students, parents, and staff. In the classroom, must continuously see and hear to ensure student safety and frequently speak to provide instruction. Capable of moving quickly across even or uneven surfaces. Work takes place in a typical school environment with a moderate noise level. Interact regularly with students, parents, and staff. Able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull as needed to assist and teach students during the day. Responsible for students' safety, well-being, and work output. Able to handle multiple demands from various individuals. While most work is indoors, position requires outdoor time for recess, fire drills, and special activities. May be exposed to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens. Risk of unintentional injuries from aggressive students. May involve some physical interaction with students with behavioral challenges. Limited personal care assistance to students may be required. Occasionally lift or position students to provide services. May be exposed to volatile or aggressive behavior. Must be able to stand, walk, and push a wheelchair for extended periods and assist with personal care. May be asked to help with toileting, depending on individual student needs. May be reassigned to different schools based on student needs and the best interest of the children. REPORTS TO : ELT Elementary Site Coordinator SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None. FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION : This position is classified as Non-Exempt (hourly). TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : This is a ten (10) month seasonal position during the school year. Shifts and schedules vary by program. Framingham Public Schools reserves the right to adjust the assignment time as needed, based on the district's requirements. Employees may be requested to work at different sites as needed. 1- Elementary Program Schedule Days - choose one of the following : Monday, Wednesday, and biweekly Fridays OR Tuesday, Thursday, and biweekly Fridays OR Monday through Friday Hours : AM Program : 7am-9am (King, Stapleton, Barbieri, Brophy, Potter Road, Hemenway, Harmony Grove, Dunning) or 7am-8am (McCarthy) PM Program : 3pm-5 : 30pm

  • Some sites may offer additional hours as needed. 2- Secondary Program Schedule Days - choose one of the following : Monday and Wednesday OR Tuesday and Thursday OR Monday through Thursday Hours : 2 : 15 pm-5 pm BACKGROUND CHECK AND TRAINING : As our programs receive funding through the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), all Employees and volunteers must complete a background record check (BRC) through the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) as required by federal law. Starting in May 2024, all staff in EEC child care programs are required to complete the new EEC Essentials 2.0 training course. New hires must finish EEC Essentials 2.0 before they begin working with children. After that, all staff in EEC-licensed and funded programs will need to complete an annual EEC Essentials refresher package. This refresher will be made available in fall 2025. Currently, this training does not apply to Little Explorers at Juniper Hill or Secondary Group Leaders.
