Job Summary

We are currently seeking exceptional individuals to join the Hollister research group as a Research Engineer / Scientist.

The successful candidate will be a motivated and creative. The successful candidate will thrive on teamwork and collaboration.

The Hollister lab conducts research on image-based computational design and 3D biomaterial printing for patient specific devices and regenerative medicine, with specific interests in pediatric applications.

Clinical application interests include airway reconstruction and tissue engineering, structural heart defects, craniofacial and facial plastics, orthopedics, and gastrointestinal reconstruction.

We specifically utilize patient image data as a foundation to for multiscale design of devices, reconstructive implants and regenerative medicine porous scaffolds.

We are also interested in multiscale computational simulation of how devices and implants mechanically interact with patient designs, combining these simulations with experimental measures of tissue mechanics.

We then transfer these designs to both laser sintering and nozzle-based platforms to build devices from a wide range of biomaterials.

Subsequently, we are interested in combining these 3D printed biomaterial platforms with biologics for patient specific regenerative medicine solutions to tissue reconstruction.

The responsibilities of this position include the development of PEGDA hydrogels for biologic delivery for soft tissue and cartilage reconstruction.

It will also focus on the regeneration of cartilage and soft tissue for head and neck reconstruction applications, and the regeneration of fat tissue for breast reconstruction applications.

In addition, the applicant will perform mechanical testing and modeling of biological tissues including cartilage and adipose tissue.

Finally, it will focus on 3D printing technologies, requiring experience for both laser sintering and nozzle-based 3D printing.

Required Qualifications

Research Scientist / Engineer I

A Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related area

Research Scientist / Engineer II

  • A Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related area, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related area, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with 3D printing
