About us :
UofL Hospital, an academic teaching and research hospital, is at the heart of the Louisville metro area in downtown Louisville.
UofL Hospital offers a second-to-none cancer center, world-renowned trauma team, and a uniquely streamlined, nationally accredited stroke center.
UofL Hospital is the only adult Level I trauma center in the region. The hospital is also the home to the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky.
The Center for Women and Infants is a designated Baby-Friendly birthing facility by Baby-Friendly USA. The designation is awarded to birth centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother / baby bonding.
UofL Hospital’s Center for Women & Infants is the only downtown Louisville facility to earn this designation. It’s the fourth facility in Kentucky to have it.
UofL Hospital proudly received magnet designation in fall 2022.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technician vocational or technical program / school.
- Completion of a UofL Health surgical technologist program.
- Completion of a hospital based surgical technologist training program.
- Graduates of a military training program in surgical technology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
- One year experience in operating room as surgical technician or clinical rotations at University Hospital.
