Logistics Team Leader

The Logistics Team Leader is responsible for overseeing all logistics operations in support of Defense Maritime Solutions (DMS). This role ensures timely delivery of products and materials, effective management of inventory, and compliance with U.S. government and defense regulations. The Team Leader drives continuous improvement initiatives, leads the logistics team, and manages relationships with freight and service providers to support organizational goals.

Accountabilities :

  • Deliver DMS products and raw materials to customers in accordance with quality and schedule requirements.
  • Minimize inventory loss and investment while optimizing stocking levels by coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Lead problem resolution and continuous improvement actions and activities to establish and maintain logistics processes, policies, and KPIs that ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Manage relationships and agreements with freight service providers to ensure performance meets cost, schedule, and compliance expectations.
  • Ensure logistics activities support customer needs, including during emergencies.

Daily Activities :

  • Lead and develop logistics staff through training, coaching, and professional development.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments; ensure accurate tracking, receiving, kitting, packaging, and delivery of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Review and resolve inventory issues while coordinating with Finance to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payment, and reporting.
  • Update and align warehouse practices with changing environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate across departments to implement logistics strategies that support DMS strategic priorities and goals.

  • Computers and Electronics - Proficiency in ERP systems (Deltek CostPoint preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Import / Export Compliance - Strong knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and defense contracting requirements.

  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 7+ years direct relatable logistics work experience, or High School Diploma with 10+ years direct relatable logistics work experience.
  • Direct experience with U.S. government and defense shipbuilding supply chains and customers.
  • Experience establishing logistics processes, inventory optimization, and supporting government contracts.
  • Knowledge of ITAR / EAR and proven experience in import / export compliance.
  • In-depth understanding of ERP systems (Deltek / Costpoint experience a plus).
  • Proficient in current computer software (MS Applications, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
