Job Type : Contract

Contract Length : 3 months

Target Start Date : ASAP

Work Location / Structure : Remote, must have at least three hours of overlap with the Pacific Time Zone (PT)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leader in the social media industry, is looking for a skilled Data Scientist IV to join their team for a 3 month engagement, with the possibility for an extension. This project involves leveraging data to maximize advertiser value through robust data foundations, metrics, and strategic insights generated through experimentation and cutting-edge DS methods. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Design, develop, and apply DS solutions to inform improvements in advertiser experience as well as the ad platform & marketplace performance.
  • Creating data assets (new tables, self-serve dashboards, etc.) to enable partners to answer their own data questions.
  • Creating reporting dashboards for product and engineering partners to understand topline metrics movements and deep dive into specific areas of interest.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be used to improve the effectiveness of our advertising platform.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define product requirements and translate them into data science solutions.
  • Uncovering strategic insights and sharing them with stakeholders to shape future product directions.
  • Develop ML models & DS methods to improve anomaly detection, prediction, & pattern recognition.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have :

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in Advanced Data Visualization Techniques, Advanced SQL, Apache Airflow, and Python. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Hive; knowledge of BigQuery a plus.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, causal inference and experimental design.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Python or R and experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

  • Experience with online advertising and ad tech.
  • Experience with causal inference and A / B testing.
