LongIsland University (LIU), an NCAA DI institution, is seeking an AssociateAthletic Director / SWA. The Associate Athletic Director provides support inestablishing a commitment to compliance with all University, NEC and NationalCollegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations governingintercollegiate athletics.
The position is responsible for all aspects of NCAAathletics compliance for LIU Athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Oversees and ensures all processes, procedures, and systemsnecessary to direct the Athletic Department in complying with NCAA, conference,and institutional rules and regulations for 37 varsity sport programs.
- Serves as primary contact with Conference Office, UniversityFinancial Aid, National Letter of Intent Office and NCAA Membership Services.
- Develop and implement athletics compliance policies andprocedures.
- Ensures compliance with institutional, NCAA, and conferenceregulations; monitor institutional and outside financial aid, benefits,recruiting, personnel, playing / practice seasons, and summer camps / clinics.
- Provides NCAA conference rules education and interpretationprograms for administrators, coaches, support staff, student-athletes, boostergroups, campus partners / constituents that promotes culture of compliance andinstitutional control.
- Coordinates investigation of known and / or alleged rulesviolations, keeps the Director of Athletics informed of all alleged and knownviolations, and handles all correspondence with the NCAA and affiliatedconferences regarding rules violations and follow up responses.
- Administer athletic team eligibility, continuing educationmeetings and manage all resulting paperwork.
- Ensures that all student-athletes (including transfer students)are eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics programs, includingcertifying the continuing eligibility of current student-athletes.
- Prepare National Letters of Intent and Financial Aid agreements.
- Supervises the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
- Sport Administrator for 3-5 sports as assign by the Director ofAthletics
- Oversee and manage Student Athlete Advisory Committee
- Title IX athletics representative
- Knowledgeof NCAA regulations is essential. Ability to communicate effectively with awide range of constituencies; ability to manage time efficiently to effectivelyperform multiple tasks;
ability to work independently; proficiency withcomputers and standard software programs to include database skills and wordprocessing skills.
Ability to work well with others. Ability to prioritize, delegate, and monitorall steps of the work process in a fast-paced work environment.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
- 5 ormore years professional NCAA compliance experience, preferably at the Division1 level.
- Must be capable of working collegiallywith a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.
Education :
bachelor’s degree required, master’s or law degree preferred.
Work Schedule :
- Requires the ability to work occasional nights, weekends, and some holidays.
