Senior Estimator

Position Summary :

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including highways and bridges.

This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in estimating large-scale civil projects and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities :

• Estimate Preparation :
• Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for highway and bridge construction projects.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
• Identify and evaluate all necessary materials, labor, and equipment costs.
• Bid Management :
• Prepare and submit competitive bids in a timely manner.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the best possible pricing.
• Project Analysis :
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for various project components.
• Assess and incorporate historical data, productivity analysis, and cost information into estimates.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities related to project costs.
• Collaboration and Communication :
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
• Present estimates and reports to senior management and clients.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Continuous Improvement :
• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in estimating.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of estimating tools, processes, and systems.
• Mentor and train junior estimators and support staff.
Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPE, CCP) are a plus.
• Experience :
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating within the heavy civil construction industry.
• Extensive experience with highway and bridge construction projects is essential.
• Skills :
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
