Business Unit / Role Specific Info :

In August 2020, American Express launched a new network in mainland China through our joint venture (JV), Express Company (EC).

As the first foreign network to operate in China, this represents an exciting opportunity for Amex to compete in one of the largest and most advanced payments markets in the world.

Following the commercial launch of the JV, the Enterprise China Management (ECM) team was created to focus on partnering with EC to build our business in China.

The role will be embedded in the ECM team and will be focused on working with other American Express teams along with members of EC to build out capabilities, manage services and platforms provided to EC, and support longer-term initiatives for the business.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Support ongoing development and optimization of JV performance-tracking systems and processes (developing stakeholder engagement plans, conducting research to support opportunity evaluation, etc.)
  • Promote socialization of ECM initiatives throughout the enterprise (identify town hall showcase opportunities, improve internal visibility of local initiatives, etc.)
  • Share relevant insights on China consumer and industry trends.
  • Partner with colleagues across ECM to develop a deepened understanding of our business globally as well as within China.

This position will be based in New York, NY

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program
  • Students must have a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Mandarin strongly preferred
  • Proactive, highly organized self-starter with experience handling complex projects
  • Eagerness and ability to learn quickly, knowledge of payment networks and financial products a plus
  • Ability to focus on the big picture while being attentive to detail
  • Proven ability to drive workstreams and recommend clear next steps
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with business partners across a diverse set of cultures; international exposure / experience (particularly in Asia / China) a plus
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility to work across multiple time zones

Salary Range : $24.05 to $63.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
