General Description
The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) has been leading online education in New York for over 15 years, offering a range of online bachelor’s and master’s degree options.
The Office of Grants and Contracts is responsible for managing applications and securing funding from various sources. This office guides the SPS community through proposal preparation, submission, and administration of grants, ensuring compliance and supporting the community in enhancing grant-related skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and vision to staff and faculty involved in review, approval, negotiation, and administration of research and training proposals.
- Act as the primary liaison between the school and relevant offices related to sponsored program administration.
- Supervise Grants Office staff to ensure compliance and documentation of all sponsored programs.
- Support proposal preparation and coordination for faculty and staff.
- Build capacity to create competitive funding proposals through professional development activities.
- Research and disseminate external funding opportunities to the campus community.
- Maintain a database of all grants and contracts, proposals, and key relationships.
- Provide administrative oversight and advice to SPS Program Directors.
- Update policies and procedures to reflect changes in guidelines.
- Liaise with sponsor program officers for questions related to proposals.
- Serve as the designated Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).
- Contribute as a strategic member of the Dean’s Senior Staff.
- Provide expert guidance on all stages of proposal development.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master’s degree or higher.
- Five years of prior research administration experience in higher education.
- Ability to encourage intellectual exploration in others.
- Experience in developing and presenting grant-related programs.
- Record of success in helping academic applicants win grants.
- Experience with NYC agencies and knowledge of the NYC / CUNY MOU process.

This is a full-time hybrid position, requiring in-office attendance 7 out of 10 days (70% RTO).
