J Street focuses its work in three main areas : (1) Advocating and demonstrating support for pro-Israel, pro-peace policies in Congress, the media and the Jewish community;

2) Endorsing and raising money for federal candidates who share J Street’s agenda; and (3) Educating the public and raising awareness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution.

About the Role

As an Accounting & Finance Assistant, Associate, or Senior Associate, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the efficient management of our financial transactions.

Reporting to and working closely with the VP of Finance and Administration, you will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks to support the smooth operation of our organization.

The ideal candidate is experienced in Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Eventbrite, and Microsoft Office or Google Suites.

Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts,and payments.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, and bank deposits in a timely manner.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Assist with credit card reconciliations (Amex) and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Reconcile bank and investment statements and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Provide support with audits and required IRS filings, such as 900 and 1099.
  • Ad hoc financial tasks and projects as needed.

Must haves :

  • 0-1 years experience preferably at non-profit
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

Nice to haves :

  • Degree or certification in finance or accounting (preferred, not required)
  • Experience with Sage Intacct (preferred, not required)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and Eventbrite

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position, with occasional work outside traditional work hours on an as-needed basis. The salary is $50,000 - $60,000.

Per J Street's Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay and title are commensurate with experience and according to pay bands outlined in our CBA.

This position is expected to be in person at least 2 to 3 days a week.

The title, level, and payscale of the position could shift after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets;

relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

J Street recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is not included in J Street’s bargaining unit.
