Job Summary The Membership Mobilization Manager works to advance GoodPower’s work to accelerate a renewable energy economy through building a membership engagement program across GoodPower and its independent sub-brands who are primed to take high level actions from attending and organizing events in their communities, mobilizing others, calling and writing to elected leaders, submitting public comments, testifying before government bodies, writing op-eds and letters to the editor, engaging in their communities, and sharing their stories. The Manager spearheads the membership and in-list communications plan, rooted in deep understanding of the various audiences and what most effectively motivates action, how to leverage members to take online and offline actions, and tailors strategies, messages, and action opportunities for each audience to advance GoodPower’s mission and goals. This is a full time, remote position based anywhere in the United States.
- The Membership Mobilization Manager will work from home, meet regularly by video chat with GoodPower team members, partners and youth, and conduct activities both online and in-person.
- The Membership Mobilization Manager must be available for regular travel within the United States to participate in conferences, select actions, events, and to attend staff retreats.
- This position reports to the Head of Policy and Public Relations.
- Key Responsibilities Planning & Implementation Leads the launch of a new membership program, by spearheading the planning and execution of GoodPower’s and independent subbrands' membership and in-list communications strategy for regular engagement of audiences through action opportunities, wins and successes, and other interventions.
- Develops innovative approaches to and implements proven strategies to generate online and offline opportunities. Collaborates with the National Field Director and State Field Directors in each state to help develop and implement strategic, coordinated organizing plans to engage members around on-the-ground events and activations for issue campaigns to accelerate the renewable energy transition and electoral campaigns, including canvasses, volunteer recruitment, phonebanks and other mobilizations.
- Collaborates with the National Political Director around key races and opportunities to mobilize voters up and down the ballot.
- Develop and run the member-to-member electoral field campaign.
- Collaborates with the Lifecycle Marketing Manager (TBH) to leverage automations, flows and regular communications to move members up a ladder of engagement. Collaborates with the Data Analytics Director, Research & Experimentation and Digital & Data teams for deep analysis of the current membership audiences and what messages motivate them to act and build testing and experiments into all communications. Ensure that all field activities are properly tracked in VAN and metrics and reports are developed for all program activity in collaboration with the Data & Analytics Director and National Field Director.
- Ensure compliance and reporting of all membership related activities working with the Compliance Manager, finance team and legal experts.
- Collaborates with the Communications Director on an annual and monthly communications calendar with strategic opportunities for intervention across geographies and brands that is regularly updated based on current events, inflection points and other timely engagement opportunities.
- Develops plan to share wins, successes and stories across membership and in-list audiences to build a sense of self-efficacy.
- Connects communications with major movement moments, legislative cycles, news headlines, local activation opportunities and other breaking stories to help the organization best position its work.
- Communication Delivery Writing, styling, programming and sending communications via e-mail, SMS, and other communication channels to GoodPower and sub-brand members and in-list network about action opportunities, GoodPower successes, stories, or other needs as they arise.
- Conceptualizing and building engaging and strategic actions (e.g. petitions, email-to-target, attending events, etc.) including evergreen actions as well as one-off opportunities that advance members along a ladder of engagement in furtherance of GoodPower’s mission and values.
- Segmenting lists and tailoring messages to best resonate with each of the appropriate sub-audiences.
- Ensuring all in-list content aligns with the GoodPower's brand voice and values.
- Ensuring that communications, field, social media, advertising, and creator marketing groups are advised of any and all member and in-list communications and that plans are maximized with the inclusion of all marketing vehicles.
- Ensuring welcome flows are timely and relevant to each particular audience.
- Anticipating and mobilizing to quickly generate communications for rapid response opportunities as they arise.
- Analysis Collaborate with the Research & Experimentation team as well as the Data & Analytics Director to identify which messages are most effective at inspiring progressive levels of action.
- Through independent analysis and in collaboration with the Data team, identify which action opportunities generate the highest level of engagement.

Adapt to the evolving needs of a fast-paced organization with flexibility and creativity.Qualifications Experience 3-5+ years experience in membership engagement, campaigning, organizing, communications, advocacy or similar work, preferably in the political or renewable energy field.Skills & Expertise Ability to build a new complex program, collaborating across departments, juggle and think through multiple angles, and ensure message discipline across communications.Prior experience running a successful membership mobilization program.Strong writing skills and ability to adapt tone based on audiences, key messages, and communication vehicles while maintaining message discipline Ability to prioritize multiple, competing opportunities.Experience writing communications (via email programs such as Engaging Networks, Twilio or mobile via MobileCommons).Competency in utilizing CRMs (such as Salesforce) and digital campaigning tools (VAN, Thrutext / Thrutalk, Mobilize and others).Awareness of and ability to communicate the economic impacts, drivers and motivators of the renewable energy transition.Ability to communicate across audiences from a diversity of demographics and across the political spectrum–whether talking to rural neighbors in Wisconsin or young voters on a college campus in Pennsylvania.Strong analytical skills with ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.Attributes Self-starter with strong organizational skills and creativity.Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.Demonstrated competence in managing complex projects.Team player who is a strong cross-team collaborator and communicator with an eagerness to jump into other duties than assigned.Proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented with a commitment to innovation. Compensation Annual salary range :
