Director of Contract Logistics Sales

Our client, a 50+ year old privately held 3rd Party Logistics Provider, have established themselves as one of the premier logistics companies in the United States.
Their service offerings include warehousing, drayage, brokerage, and other valued added transportation services with a focus on automotive and industrial clients.

Summary :
Our client is looking for a Director Business Development to join the organization where you will leverage a consultative sales approach to drive revenue growth through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing client.
The primary responsibility is selling warehousing and drayage service offerings. This role requires an individual with recent experience over the past three years selling directly to technology, consumer electronics, or industrial product clients.
This is an individual contributor role that requires an individual with a hunter mentality, experience building strong customer relationships and a track record of delivering on sales targets.
Responsibilities
- Build a book of business and maintain an extensive sales pipeline through cold calling, face- to-face customer meetings, networking, and closing new deals.
- Leads the entire customer pursuit from initial introduction, customer needs assessment, internal proposal development, solutioning and pricing, presentation and deal close.
- Provide ongoing account management to customers focusing on commercial aspects of the relationship that maintain and fuel account growth.
- Develop and execute a business plan that will generate hyper revenue growth and exceed the sales quotas set by the company.
- Oversee the entire sales process related to customer RFPs / RFQs.
- Maintain and update CRM for all opportunities, pipeline management, sales forecast, and customer information.
- Ability to establish, maintain and grow strong customer relationships across multiple levels of the customer organization while also identifying specific needs and behaviors of key decision makers.
- Assist with on-boarding process to ensure both internal and external customer expectations are met.
- Positions our clients entire portfolio of supply chain and transportation services with customers.
- Develop and implement strategy for key annual industry events including TPM, Inland Distribution Conferences, CSCMP, RILA, ISM, Pack Expo, Supply Chain USA, IANA, ProMat,
- Travel required - at least 50% travel.
Experience
- 7+ years sales experience in the logistics & transportation industry with strong proficiency in drayage, transloading, ocean steamship lines, and international freight forwarding.
- The ability to work independently and manage one's own sales territory, as is the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must have excellent consultative selling experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present solutions both internally and to customers and partners.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., SalesForce.com) for maintaining customer information, sales strategies, opportunity and pipeline management, sales forecasting,
- Bachelor's degree, equivalent related work, or military experience
