Salary Range : Lab Course - $75.48 up to $103.03 per hour. Lecture Course - $87.88 up to $118.85.

The Position
The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Early Childhood Education. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
This position is a pool position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a pool of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under direction of the Business Division Dean and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Department Coordinator, teach early childhood education and child development classes.
- Assist in curriculum development.
- Work with outside organizations and community groups to ensure currency of curriculum and support for the Early Childhood Education program.
- Engage in a continuing program of personal professional development.
- Assist in promoting the Early Childhood Education program in the community.
- The instructor may consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- The assignment may include day, evening and Saturday classes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a Master’s or above in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics / family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development / early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development / early childhood education OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s or above in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual / bicultural education, life management / home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent.
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in both academic and community settings.
- Expertise and ability to teach in the areas of Child Development / Early Childhood Education.
- Experience in developing curriculum.
- Recent teaching experience or preparation to teach.
- Experience working and collaborating with outside agencies and organizations.
- Familiarity with and willingness to expand the use of computer-based technology appropriate to the subject areas of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in a second language (Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog).
