Kemper is seeking a QA Automation Engineer for our Information Systems department. In this role you will evaluate project specifications and translate the specifications into a test plan.

From the test plan, develop and execute test cases to ensure systems are working as per the detailed requirements. Works closely with QA leads, application developers, business users and other members of project teams.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Review project specifications and requirements to identify areas suitable for automation testing.
  • Collaborate with senior QA analysts to devise automation strategies and validate them with experienced team members.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress).
  • Create and execute automated test suites to verify system functionality and performance.
  • Analyze test results and promptly report any issues, following through to resolution.
  • Participate in test case reviews and provide feedback to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of automation frameworks and tools.
  • Document automation processes, test scripts, and results thoroughly.
  • Possess strong analytical skills to understand complex business logic.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automated tests into CI / CD pipelines.
  • Stay updated on emerging automation tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior QA team members as needed.

Position Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on automation testing.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in the Java programming language used for automation.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or TestCafe.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins and GitLab CI.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL for database testing and validation, experience with the Rest Assure framework is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience using different test management tools such as X-Ray, Zephyr, and ALM.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • This is a hybrid position working at a Kemper office.
  • Experience in Agile / Scrum development methodologies is a plus.
  • Desired knowledge of personal and commercial auto insurance.
  • The automation QA should show willingness to engage in manual testing as necessary, dedicating up to 25% of their effort towards it.
