Job Title : Staff Accountant with Treasury Functions
Location : Covina, CA (Onsite)
Project Duration : 3-Month Contract
Pay Rate : Up to $35 per hour
Position Overview :
Our client, a leading municipality near Covina, CA, is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant with a focus on treasury functions for a three-month project.
This professional will play a vital role in daily cash management, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance to support accurate and efficient financial operations.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in accounting functions, especially within the public sector.
Key Responsibilities :
- Daily Treasury Operations
- Download and review previous day bank statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Apply ACH and cash receipts via journal entries, comprising up to 40%-50% of daily responsibilities.
- Track and reconcile short-term borrowings, maintaining records in Excel and validating entries against bank invoices.
- Record monthly bank fees and ensure they are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
- Invoicing and Accounts Receivable
- Create and process invoices for various operations within the municipality, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
- Interest Recording and Reconciliation
- Record and monitor both short-term and long-term interest expenses, reconciling monthly to ensure accuracy.
- General Support
- Perform additional accounting and treasury-related tasks as assigned to support the finance team’s operational needs.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to treasury functions.
- Proficiency in Excel for financial tracking and reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle high-volume tasks.
