We are hiring Full Time, Part Time, and PRN Behavioral Health Technicians!
The Behavioral Health Technician in our Mental Health Forensic Group Home plays a crucial role in providing specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders within a forensic setting.
Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Technician ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals of whom may have a history of involvement with the criminal justice system.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
Client Care
- Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disorders in a compassionate and therapeutic manner.
- Implement and monitor treatment plans as outlined by the clinical team, ensuring individualized needs are met.
Behavioral Management
- Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and address behavioral concerns, promoting a therapeutic and supportive environment.
Medication Administration
- Administer prescribed medications as per established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medication schedules.
- Monitor and document individual's responses to medication, promptly reporting any side effects or concerns to the nursing and medical staff.
Therapeutic Support
- Assist in facilitating therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises to promote social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to implement evidence-based interventions and treatment modalities.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual's interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Report significant changes in resident's behavior, mental health status, or any incidents promptly to the supervisory team.
Collaborative Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members as well as external providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional development.
Safety and Security
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment.
- Conduct regular checks of the facility to identify and address any potential safety hazards.
Crisis Response
- Respond effectively to emergencies and crises, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of individualized and staff.
- FULL TIME Available Schedules (40hrs)*
1. Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
2. (Rotating Schedule : This is 1 position)
Week 1 & 3 : Mon / Tues / Wed 3pm-11pm & Saturday 7am-11pm
Week 2 & 4 : Sunday 7am-11pm & Wed / Thurs / Fri 3pm-11pm
3. (Rotating Schedule : This is 1 position)
Week 1 & 3 : Sunday 7am-11pm & Wed / Thurs / Fri 3pm-11pm
Week 2 & 4 : Mon / Tues / Wed 3pm-11pm & Saturday 7am-11pm
4. Monday - Thursday 11pm-9am (Overnight)
PART TIME Available Shifts :
1. (Rotating Schedule : This is 1 position)
Week 1 & 3 : Mon / Tues 4pm-11pm & Saturday 7a-11p
Week 2 & 4 : Sunday 7am-11pm & Thurs / Fri 4pm-11pm
2. (Rotating Schedule : This is 1 position)
Week 1 & 3 : Sunday 7am-11pm & Thurs / Fri 4pm-11pm
Week 2 & 4 : Mon / Tues 4pm-11pm & Saturday 7am-11pm
3. Friday - Sunday 11pm-9am (Overnight)
PRN / On-Call Available - Varied Schedule (Not eligible for benefits)
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant education or certification in psychiatric technology or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working in mental health, forensic, or similar settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications, therapeutic techniques, and behavioral management strategies.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Physical Demands :
Requires light and / or heaving lifting, repetitive bending, sight, hearing, and ability to move with ease.
Working Environment :
Residential setting, indoor and outdoor program site and various community locations.
