SUMMARY
Customer acknowledgement is always the number one responsibility of the Cashier / Stock Clerk. The Cashier / Stock Clerk is the ACO team member who has the most customer contact;
in this role you are accountable for maintaining a good company image and promoting ACO's goodwill through your attitude, appearance and a concern for the profitability of the entire store.
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at ACO.
Assists with the unloading of merchandise on truck day(s) and stocking of merchandise on the sales floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
REGISTER
Acknowledges customers entering store and at the checkout line through exit interviews.
Processes refunds and / or issues in store merchandise credit to customers for returned merchandise.
Refers customer complaints to proper person for resolution.
Uses loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting.
Follows corporate policies and procedures for all transactions.
Maintains familiarity with all ads, rebates and special pricing; reports pricing errors to management.
Maintains key machine and cuts keys.
Answers telephones and refers all calls to proper department through the use of the paging system and two way radios
STOCK
Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received, as necessary.
Sorts merchandise to departments and stocks shelves; rotates product when necessary (food and paint).
Neatly and accurately builds displays and maintains scan tag integrity.
Assists customers and answers questions about merchandise when out on the sales floor; assists with color matching and mixing paint.
Collect carts; carry merchandise out to customer cars if needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Explains screen repair and knife sharpening programs- measures, quotes, completes appropriate paperwork to complete transaction.
Explains proper use of rental equipment and completes appropriate paperwork for customers renting equipment.
Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness of assigned work areas.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
Must be able to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers, and deal with colleagues and customers effectively and professionally.
RELATIONSHIPS
Professionally communicates with all members of store management, store associates, and main office (#375) associates as necessary.
TECHNOLOGY
Use of computer keyboard, mouse, touch screen and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 16 years of age and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
No prior experience or training necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively with customers or associates of organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percents.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
