Job Details

The Speech Language Therapist will provide patient care under MD referral. Maintains required documentation and professional relationships with patients, families and staff.

Adheres to MMC / department policies and procedures and JCAHO / regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times.

Responsibilities :

  • Administers Speech Therapy treatments per MD referral and in accordance with NYS practice act
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans with realistic, functional goals
  • Observe patients' response to treatment physically and psychologically and adjust the treatment plan accordingly
  • Communicate with clinical rehab staff, including MD, regarding results of testing performed and any precautions / diet modifications recommended
  • Evaluate and treat patients on acute inpatient rehabilitation unit with Speech / Language and / or Swallowing dysfunction
  • Evaluate patients referred in acute care hospital setting
  • Objective testing (FEES / MBS) when indicated

Requirements :

  • Masters in Speech Pathology and CCC NYS license required
  • Current NYS license required
  • BLS Required
  • Two (2) years experience with adult population in acute care and / or acute and rehab setting required.
  • Experience with FEESST preferred
