Department / Unit : Post Cardiothoracic Surgery - C8
Work Shift : Night
The Clinical Nurse II in the Cardiothoracic Surgery unit is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout the care episode.
This includes focusing on progress toward discharge and managing transitions within the acute care stay. The role involves delivering and coordinating patient care provided by the caregiving team to ensure competent and compassionate care is uniformly provided to patients in various settings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments and procedures, and document treatment as required
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions
- Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing
Minimum Qualifications :
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- 1-3 years of clinical RN experience
- Ability to improve job performance through continuing education
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts and principles
